Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Review
Today’s review is on Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Wash with pink grapefruit foaming scrub. This is my first review for Make-up Era and I am super excited to be here! Since I have always had a sensitive, acne prone skin, I decided to review a product that has become the holy grail of the breakout treatment for me!

The product boasts of a “MicroclearTechnology” that clears break outs with it’s salicylic acid acne treatment method and 100% naturally derived grapefruit extract. With the combination of grapefruit and Vitamin C, it aims to ‘uplift’ the skin as its unique formula clears blemishes and blackheads. It also contains microbeads that gently smoothens the skin of its roughness to produce a clearer, healthier-looking skin without causing any irritation or over-dryness.
Direction for Use
The directions of use are simple to follow. The product requires to be used daily. To start with wet your face, take a bit of the product in your palm, add some water and work up some lather and massage your face gently and finally rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry.
Shelf life is not mentioned in the packaging. Since it contains salicylic acid that extends shelf life of face washes, and the expiry date is mentioned on the tube, it can be estimated that the shelf like is of 2-3 years (based on EU norms).
Price & Quantity
The price is INR 1,118 for 125 ml and INR 1865 for 198ml on Amazon.in and INR 2049 for 198 ml on ebay.in
This product is suitable for acne prone, oily and sensitive skin types. This might not suit dry skin types well as the product is itself very drying.
The packaging is very attractive. It comes in a sturdy tube that is pink near the base and transparent near the top so you can see the different kinds of pink microbeads floating inside the tube. The tube has a plastic flip cap that is neither too tight nor too loose and effectively avoids spillage.
It is very sticky and has a very light pinkish tinge, with light pink microbeads and a few larger, dark pink beads interspersed throughout. It is faintly jelly like, lightweight and a lot of the product tends to clump together and fall out at once.
Active Ingredient is Salicylic Acid (2%).

My Experience with Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash
I have this in my possession for quite a while now but I generally use it when I am experiencing a bout of breakouts due to weather or pollution or bad diet or a lot of stress. This works amazing well on acne and any other eruption and clears out the skin swiftly and effectively, but it does cause a lot of dryness on prolonged usage. So I tend to stop using it after a few days and move to milder face-washes and then return to it from time to time.
4.5/5 for effective action.
Whether I would recommend this product again:
Yes, I would most definitely use it again and recommend it whole heartedly. It does work efficiently and clears out acne and related skin conditions while clarifying the complexion. The only problem with this is that it is overly drying and therefore can be used only for short periods of time at a go. If you are willing to splurge on an acne-zapping and skin clarifying facial scrub and face wash, you should give this a try!
