Colourful, sweet and packed full of goodness, berries are favoured by everyone around the globe. Berries are full of phytochemicals which help protect the body cells from damage. Berries are not called ‘Super Foods’ for no reason. Berries are grown and consumed in a large scale all over the world. They can eaten just as they are but there are several other sweet and savoury dishes which have berries in the as their main ingredient. High in antioxidants and other nutrients, berries help our bodies in so many ways. Healthy and tasty, these little colourful berries protect our bodies in so many ways and contribute so much to the immune system.

Studies have proved that consuming berries on a regular basis can help in weight loss and control. All berries are a rich source of antioxidants which protect the body cells from damage and diseases. Berries also are a rich source of fibre and allows the body to get rid of all the unwanted toxics from inside making them another key factor in weight loss.

Anthocyanin is a major antioxidant present in the berries that gives the strawberries and blueberries its bright vibrant colours. It helps in the properly flow of blood through the veins which in turn lowers the blood pressure as the veins and vessels are not clogged or closed.

Dried berries are also very good for the body and mind. They have an extra acidic tang in them. Berries can also be consumed in the form of smoothies mixed along with other fruits and vegetables. These bright and colourful fruits look so lovely in any dish. They add a spark of colour and taste to everything they are added to.
